Our priority at Archbishop Coleman F. Carroll High School is to provide our students and their families with the tools necessary for a successful college admissions experience. ACC is proud to announce our previous graduates, Armand Estin Mignot (’06), Sofia Ascorbe (’10), and Natasha Dowell (’07) who have been accepted into elite colleges and universities such as Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Marquette University, and University of Florida. Our institution is committed to high academic standards and student achievement, and most importantly, providing a Christ-Centered learning environment to all of our students.
As part of the college preparatory process at ACC, students attend a yearly College Night with their parents that is catered to each grade level.
Beginning freshman year, students are invited to attend our monthly College Corner meetings where various university representatives come speak with our students and provide information regarding the college admissions process. Our freshman and sophomores meet individually with their Guidance Counselor, Ms. Montero, to discuss their pre-college track.
College Corner provides an opportunity for students to learn valuable information such as:
- Write exceptional college essays
- Apply to colleges through CommonApp
- Gain an understanding about what to expect in college life
- Test-taking Strategies
- Resume building
- Improve interviewing skills and communication
- Many more college related topics
During the student’s Junior Year, they will begin to navigate their college search and find the school that best meets their educational needs. Students are informed of SAT/ACT test administration dates, and are strongly encouraged to take the College Entrance Exams during the spring semester.
Seniors meet with their College Counselor individually beginning in September. Senior College Night is held around the third week of September to discuss Financial Aid, Scholarships, and the college application process.
In addition to College Corner, our seniors also receive information from prestigious college representatives throughout the fall semester during Wednesday’s Seminar period to disseminate specific information about scholarship opportunities and application deadlines.
Our full-time College Counselor, Mrs. Zedler, works diligently to provide Juniors and Seniors with information pertaining to academics, financial aid, and the review of transcripts so that all students can reach their college goals.
